UNIVERSAL ROLLING TRAP FOR MOUSE AND RAT
A carbon fiber roller on precision bearings replaces the trap mechanism.

A hollow carbon fiber tube is mounted on two pillow block bearings above a bucket of water, with ramps leading to each end. Bait is applied to the middle of the tube. The mouse walks onto the tube to reach the bait; because the tube is extremely light and rotates freely on the bearings, it rolls under the animal's weight. The mouse falls into the bucket, and the water depth determines whether it is captured alive or drowned.
“It is extremely difficult for a mouse or rat to keep balance on a rotating carbon fiber roller.”— Jakko H Yang, from the specification
