A group of electronic traps communicates wirelessly with a base station connected to a cloud server. When a rodent triggers a trap, the trap enters a kill alert state, begins its killing cycle, and after a first delay period sends an activation notice to the base station, which relays it to the cloud server. The server waits a second delay period before pushing a notification to the user's phone or computer. If the trap rearms itself before the second period expires, the cloud server resets the trap's status to set and the user is never notified.
