VISCOUS FISH EGG KILLING DEVICE
Electrified fish nests attract fish to spawn, then kill the eggs.
Paired artificial fish nests made of willow roots or plastic rope beards are suspended side by side in water on float rods, 0.1 to 0.5 meters apart. One nest is wired to the positive pole and the other to the negative pole of a 5-36 volt DC power source, with a fine wire or metal mesh embedded in each nest. Invasive fish are attracted to spawn on the nests, and their viscous fertilized eggs adhere to the dispersed fibers. The operator turns on the power source, and the electric field formed between the two nests kills the attached eggs.
