ANIMAL TRAPPING APPARATUS
The animal's own tugging reels it into deep water to drown.
A jaw trap set in shallow water is tethered by a cable to a spring-motor housing staked in deeper water. When an animal is caught, its tugging on the tether pulls a latch pin out of the spool hub. The released spring winds the cable onto the spool, dragging the trap and animal into deeper water. The weight of the trap holds the animal beneath the surface until it drowns.
