METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DEPLOYING AN ANIMAL RESTRAINING NET
An explosive charge fires a weighted net over deer.

A central firing chamber is suspended above a baited area, with four pipes angled outward and downward, each holding a net-anchoring weight attached to a folded net. The operator detonates an explosive charge in the chamber from a remote location. Expanding gases discharge the four weights outward from the pipes, pulling the net open and downward. The net settles over the animal standing below and restrains it alive.
“It must be able to be deployed from a distance so as not to require the user to be in close proximity to the device and elude detection by the animal.”— Harry Mattox, from the specification
