ANIMAL-TRAP.
A leghold trap that grips the leg higher up than usual.
The trap is set by holding two spring-loaded jaws open with a pivoted catch that engages a shoulder on the trip member. The animal steps on the trip member, which frees the shoulder from the catch. Leaf springs at each end of the jaws force them together onto the animal's leg. An anchoring chain fastens the trap to a permanent object so the animal cannot drag it away.
